A couple of hours drive north of Barcelona, but nevertheless
worth a mention as one of the most talked-about restaurants
in the world. Head chef and patron, Ferran Adrià,
has created a legendary tasting menu, with up to 35
dishes; each a wispy mouthful of exquisite delight.
He is never one to sit still, but among those miniature
treats that have hovered around the menu for a couple
of seasons is Kellogg’s Paella; where toasted
grains of impossibly light rice are served with a tiny
jug of liquid to be poured over them for an extraordinary
transformation of taste (and, it goes without saying,
a snap, crackle and pop). Expect to pay around €125
a head without wine, but prepare to be blown away.
